Now that you know the very basics of webpage design, it will help for you to know all of the different ways you can manipulate text to get the effects you want. These tags will be very useful. Without them, your text will come out in one big block. If you just type this into your code:

• <P> </P>--Paragraph tags
  These commands break up your text into chunks. So,
  <P> This is the first paragraph. What shall I say to make it long enough to prove my point? I like to cook, but I hate to clean up afterwards. I don't get the hype about "Kolchack: the Night Stalker." If you like it, cool, but I think it's really stupid.. </P>
  <P> This is the second paragraph. Do you like frogs? I love them. We have seven in a big tank downstairs. Big fat bullfrogs. They're very cute. We raised them from tadpoles. </P>
  becomes:

  These tags make your text stand out.

• <I> </I>--Italic tags
  These tags also make your text stand out, but a different way.

• <BR>--Break tag
  This tag ends a line of text.
  Do you dance? <BR> Do you sing?<BR>
  Becomes:
  Do you dance?
  Do you sing?
  However, it's best to put each new line after a break on a new line in your code, so as not to confuse yourself.
  
  
• Headers
  There are six different header commands, but you shouldn't ever have to use more than three.
  <H1> Heading 0ne </H1>
  <H2> Heading Two </H2>
  <H3> Heading Three </H3>
  <H4> Heading Four </H4>
  <H5> Heading Five </H5>
  <H6> Heading Six </H6>
  Becomes:

  As you can see, they generate their own breaks.
  
  
• <HR>--Horizontal rule
  This tag makes a line across the page.

  You can control the width and height by inserting other commands into the tag.

  Rule tags automatically center.
  
  
• <center> </center>--Center tags
  These tags will center your text on the page.

• Align commands
  This is something you insert into your header commands or paragraph commands to get them to line up with one side of the page or the other, or to center. The default position (the one that you get when you don't specify one) is left.
  <H1 align=center> TITLE </H1>
  Becomes:

  <P align=right> Note how the text meets the right side of the page. I'm not quite sure what this is good for, but there must be SOMEthing.. </P>

  These commands also are good in a few other things, which we will get to later.
  
  
• <OL> </OL>--Ordered lists
  These tags generate neat, numbered lists. If you want a numbered list, it's suggested you use these commands instead of trying to do it yourself. It's easier, for one thing, and you won't have to retype all of the numbers if you want to change something. The way you indicate something to be numbered is with the <LI> tag.

  These tags work like the ordered list, except that these are discs in the place of numbers.

  Normally the discs are solid, but this tutorial is mainly in the form of an unordered list. You can embed a list in another list, just remember to shut them both off.
