After your page is up.
After you've uploaded your page, there are a few more things to do. The first is to go
through everything again and make sure you've uploaded all you needed to. Then, maybe you want
a counter, so you know how many people have visited you? Or a guestbook for quick feedback?
Maybe some webrings to join so that more people will know about you? This will be a listing
just for those things.
Counters
- LEfastcounter
A small counter, fast loading, signing up is a breeze. They don't have size specifications in
the code though, so here they are: WIDTH="90" HEIGHT="16"
- Honesty.com
Seems to have losts of options and digit styles.. including penguins!
- Dark Counter
All kinds of digit options.
- Webtracker
Looks like a button link. No profanity (the fuckers).
A note on Geocities counters: the counter Geocities offers to its members counts every time a
person visits your page. So, if you have a counter on your main page, and five things to do
that visitors have to go back to the main page for, it will count the visitor who goes to all
five things five times.
Guestbooks
- Dreambook
Easy to sign up, easy to customize, lets you ask any questions you'd like. You can have
multiple books with the same login, which can come in handy.
- Phaistos
Easy sign-up. Lets you use one of your own pictures to place at the top of the sign page.
Will pull the colors straight from the site and use them in the guestbook, if you want.
Customization takes longer than Dreambook, but isn't very tough.
- Guestbook.de
Currently fairly popular. You can customize the way the page looks in terms of color and
background. Won't let you get two books with the same e-mail address. Only three fields.
- Toonzbook
Minimally customizeable. Popular because it allows guests to choose a cartoon icon to go next to
the entry. Went down for a while without notice.
- HTML Gear
This one is pretty lame.. to customize it you have to write your own form and then program the
options into their computer. I did it, but it went wonky on me, even when I was sure everything
was right. These guestbooks often become overloaded with traffic and hard to sign.
- Guestpage
Lots of their layouts to choose from. Pretty basic book, and their images load slowly. Not
much in the way of customizing.
- Guestbooks.net
Not much info on the main page. A rather daunting user agreement when you try to sign up.
Webrings
A webring is a bunch of sites linked together with a special code on each site. If you're
interested in joining one, the best way to go about it is to visit WebRing and search for the subject of your page. If you
can't find anything, you could always consider starting your own, although I wouldn't recommend
that until you're really sure of your HTML skills. Or you could bribe me very nicely to do one
for you. |^)
AddMe is a way to submit your sites to a bunch of search
engines from one place.
The next thing, after you've done all of this, is to fill out this
form, because I'd love to see your work. Thanks. Good luck!
